The Chaos is Gone. Here’s How to Bring in the Order.
So, you did it. You followed our advice, grabbed the trash bags, and decluttered everything from old tupperware to excess toys. The clutter is gone. But now, you’re standing in your home looking at a pile of keep items and wondering: Where does all of this actually go?
Decluttering is about subtraction. Organizing is about placement.
A truly organized home isn't just about hiding things away. It’s about creating systems that flow with your life. You shouldn't have to fight your house to find your keys or your kids' snacks.
Here is your professional roadmap with easy steps to decluttering and staying organized:
1. Group Like with Like
Before you buy a single bin, you need to group your items.
In the Pantry: Don’t just put food on a shelf. Group Breakfast, Dinner Prep, Baking, and Snacks.
In the Closet: Separate long sleeves, short sleeves, gym wear, and work wear.
In the Playroom: LEGOs go with LEGOs. Dolls go with dolls.
When you see exactly how much you have of one specific category, you’ll know exactly what size container you need. Measure your shelves and then you’re ready to shop.
2. Define Your Prime Real Estate
Not all shelves are created equal. The shelves between your waist and your eye level are what we refer to as your Prime Real Estate.

What goes here? The things you use daily. Coffee mugs, vitamins, the kids’ favorite snacks, clothes you reach for daily, whether that’s what you wear to work or to the gym.
What goes high? Seasonal items, serving platters, that turkey roaster you use once a year, bathing suits and ski clothes.
What goes low? Heavy appliances or things you want your kids to be able to reach, like their own water bottles or toys.
3. Contain Your Categories
Now you can go shopping! Containers are essential because they set boundaries. If the snack bin is full, it means you don't buy more snacks; you eat what you have.
Pro Tip: For a luxury look, consistency is key. Whether you choose clear acrylic, woven baskets, or bamboo, sticking to one style per room instantly elevates the space from tidy to professionally designed. If you’re mixing and matching products, put all of the clear containers on one shelf, the baskets on another, or make your bin setup symmetrical with the textures or colors you choose.

4. Label It All
You might know that the wicker basket holds batteries, but does your spouse? Does your babysitter? Do your kids? Labels are the enforcers of your system. They hold everyone
accountable. When a bin says Art Supplies, it’s much harder to lazily toss a toy car inside. If you want a high-end look, opt for custom vinyl labels or metal bin clips. We love the P-Touch label maker because of its wide range of font and tape options.
5. The One-Touch Reset
The goal isn’t that your house never gets messy again. We’re moms; we know that’s impossible. The goal is a quick recovery. Because every item now has a designated home, tidying up at the end of the day shouldn't take an hour. It should take 15 minutes. We call this the Daily Reset. When you know where things go, putting them away becomes muscle memory, not a mental chore. Your entire family should be able to be active participants in cleaning up with the right systems in place.
Still feeling stuck on the How? Sometimes, you have the vision, but you just can't make the puzzle pieces fit. That is where we come in. Whether it’s designing a custom layout for your pantry or installing a complete shelving system in your garage, we take the what goes where stress off your plate.
